Pausing the television when the Alexa timer rings is one of my favourite automations.
All you need is an Amazon Echo device*, with Alexa Media Player integration from HACS in Home Assistant, and a television that can be controlled via Home Assistant. This also works with a Chromecast. In my case, I use an LG television*.
We use a time as the trigger. Now select ‘Value of a date/time helper or timestamp class sensor’ and choose the Echo entity ‘next Timer’.

Then send a notification to the television, if it supports this. We also select the ‘Media Player: Pause’ service and link this to the device, i.e. the television.

As soon as the timer rings, the video we are watching on the television is automatically paused. No more frantic searching for the remote control!
